DESCRIPTION

A great way to spark interest in fossils in adults and older kids (10+). With this kit one can prepare their own fossil with the provided tool, and instruction booklet.

Included is a slab of shale, and the fossil fish is buried just under the surface. On the backside of the slab, marked in pencil, you will find the approximate location of the fish. We know that the fish is there, and also where it is, because of small raised parts in the rock. The fish that will be uncovered will be a 48 million year old fossil fish (Eocene) from the Green River Formation in Wyoming.

We guarantee that there is a fossil fish in the slab and that it is, complete or at least almost complete.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Fully preparing this fish will take many hours of work and the results depend mainly on the patience and skill of the person doing it. Don't expect to expose a perfect fish in a half hour. However, preparing one's own fossil can be something extremely rewarding.
